The Maths toolkit

GCSE Grade Calculator

Make sense of a practice result using your marks and the matching official grade boundaries. No guessed boundaries. No promised grade.

Use the right boundaries
This tool is for GCSE Maths qualifications using the 9–1 grading system. Use whole-qualification marks and boundaries for the same awarding organisation, qualification, tier and exam series. It does not retrieve or verify official boundaries.

Use your own grade boundaries

All marks and boundaries are required. No default boundaries are assumed.
Your exam tier

Changing tier clears the grade boundaries. Higher includes the grade 3 safety-net boundary.

For your reference only; this does not look up or verify boundaries.

Minimum marks for each grade

Copy the whole-qualification boundaries for the same board, tier and exam series. Do not mix a single-paper mark with qualification-wide boundaries.

Your result, in context

Add your marks and all matching boundaries to see the calculation.

Grades are not fixed percentages. The same mark can mean different things for different papers and exam series.

This is not an official grade or a prediction. Your awarding organisation determines the final result. Nothing you enter is saved or submitted.

Keep the context

A grade is a starting point, not the whole picture.

Look at the questions and reasoning behind a mark. Understanding where you got stuck gives you a more useful next step than a number alone.

Foundation normally offers grades 1–5. Higher normally offers grades 4–9, with grade 3 available in specified circumstances. The calculator includes the grade 3 boundary so you can use the published safety-net threshold.

Boundaries can change between exam series. An estimate from a practice paper does not predict a future exam result. Ask your school or exam centre if you are unsure which boundaries or marks to use.
