GCSE Maths revision checklist

A practical check-in for your topics, resources, practice and exam preparation.

One idea.
A little clearer.

Know what you are preparing for

Use this as a starting checklist, not a replacement for your course specification. The exact topics and arrangements depend on your qualification and tier.

  • Confirm your qualification, tier and exam series with your school or centre.
  • Find the current specification and relevant topic list.
  • Check your exam dates and the equipment you are allowed to use.
  • Make sure your practice materials match your course.

Review your understanding

Look at recent classwork and practice papers. Be specific about what needs attention: naming a particular question type is more useful than writing that an entire topic is difficult.

  • List topics you can work on independently.
  • Identify topics that need more practice.
  • Mark concepts that need another explanation.
  • Keep an error log with the reason for each mistake.

Give practice a purpose

Plan manageable sessions and revisit the list as your understanding changes. A checklist is there to guide practice, not to create pressure.

  • Choose one clear goal for each session.
  • Attempt questions before looking at the solution.
  • Review working with the relevant mark scheme.
  • Return to corrected mistakes after a gap.
  • Include mixed-topic practice and appropriate timed work.

Before the exam

Confirm arrangements with your school or exam centre rather than relying on a general online checklist.

  • Check the arrival time, location and required materials.
  • Review the instructions for calculators and other equipment.
  • Leave space for rest and normal routines.
  • Ask for clarification about anything you are unsure of.
